Alderman Chris Attwell, the council’s community chief, said, “It’s great to see that this new area is already being used well by dog walkers and their pets.
“After speaking to a number of people in the area who are nervous about unleashing their dogs in the open grass, we wanted to create a nice place where dog owners could relax their dogs and pets can. ”enjoy a few sniffs and mingle with other four-legged friends. We want this area to be a safe and clean place for people and dogs, so please be considerate of others and tidy up after your dog when you visit. ‘
Barry, who lives in Portsmouth, has visited the training area with his bulldog Sydney. He said, “It’s a great area, safe and with plenty of shade and variety for dogs and other dogs to meet and play with.”
It extends over an area of 1,600 m2 and is surrounded by 1.2 m high railings with two guarded access points.
There are dog poop and regular trash cans around the training area and the owners are responsible for collecting their dogs and are asked to show consideration for other people and pets who use this space.
