Dog grooming center coming to Holland Township

HOLLAND TWP. – A dog care center is being built on Lakewood Boulevard in Holland Township.

The Puppy Parlor, owned by Philip Tran, is located at 76 E. Lakewood Blvd. in the same building as Natural Nails – which also belongs to the Tran family. An opening date will be announced.

The store was cleared for special use permit following a meeting of the Holland Township Planning Commission in June 2020.

According to the documents submitted to the district, the shop will focus exclusively on dog care. There will be no day care or night shifts.

Some parking concerns were raised at the meeting. Tran noted that the shop front was once a tattoo parlor and parking was never a problem.

Customers can park on the north and south sides of the building, depending on where they feel most comfortable.

While no opening times were posted on the storefront, which has been under renovation for several months, Tran stated in the meeting that he would like to be open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – the same hours as natural nails .

When the permit application was originally received by the Commission, few dog barbers were available in the region after weeks of forced closings for non-essential businesses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Because of this, Tran said, he hoped to open as soon as possible.

Puppy Parlor isn’t the only new nursing service added in Holland over the last year. Eddie and Barkus opened in July in Watertower Court 11071. In addition to day care, the center also offers food and care.

Pet Supplies Plus opened at 2308 N. Park Drive in October after a 21 month hiatus in the area. The shop has care and self-washing stations.
