Laundromat BYOD is a family owned and controlled company led by Elizabeth. The first self-service dog wash in the Boston area was Laundromjutt. Maya, her first German Shepherd, was an inspiration to her. Maya struggled with skin problems such as rashes and hotspots caused by allergies for most of her 11 years. Frequent medicinal baths were one of the most effective treatments for her skin problems. Groomers were an expensive option, bathing Maya in the claw and ball bath at home was a messy and bone-breaking one, and keeping her under the cold hose in the back yard was a no-no.
Elizabeth noticed the need for self-service dog washing as a result of her battles with Mayan skin problems. As a result, the goal of LaundroMutt (and now BYOD Dog Wash) became clear: to promote the health and well-being of the dog through regular washing, a balanced diet, plenty of mental and physical stimulation, and continuous exercise.
