2 dogs, 9 puppies rescued from Belvidere house fire

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) – Two dogs and nine puppies were rescued from a house fire in Belvidere early Friday morning.

According to the Belvidere Fire Department, the firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire at 300 block on Menominee Street at around 3:11 a.m.

Officials said smoke was coming from the back of a two-story house, and firefighters found the fire in the laundry room.

According to the authorities, the house had working smoke alarms and the residents were able to flee unharmed.

According to the fire department, the damage to the home is estimated at $ 25,000 and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
